OAU Honors LAUTECH VC Prof Razaq Kalilu for Excellence

On August 12, 2026, Prof Razaq Kalilu, the Vice-Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), was honored by Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) for his significant contributions to art, scholarship, and leadership. The recognition took place during the Distinguished (Special) Alumni Lecture and Reunion organized by OAU's Faculty of Environmental Design and Management, coinciding with the university's 65th anniversary.

The event, held at Oduduwa Hall, included the presentation of Awards of Excellence to Kalilu and other distinguished alumni, such as Bode Adediji and Dotun Popoola. OAU Vice-Chancellor Prof Adebayo Bamire was represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof Ganiyu Aderounmu.

Kalilu received the award for his extensive academic achievements and leadership, with a career spanning 27 years. He is recognized for pioneering contributions to art education in Nigeria, including the introduction of the first Bachelor of Technology degree in Fine and Applied Arts and postgraduate programs in Fine Art and Applied Art.
