LAUTECH Holds Thanksgiving for Rescued Staff Members

On July 10, 2026, the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, held an interfaith thanksgiving service to express gratitude for the safe rescue of two staff members who had been abducted in the Orir local government area. The event was attended by key university officials, including Vice Chancellor Prof.

Razaq Kalilu, Registrar Mr. Olayinka Balogun, and Bursar Mr.

Kehind Olatokun. The community gathered to thank God for the safe return of the victims, who were among 44 schoolchildren and teachers abducted during a coordinated attack on Baptist Nursery Primary School and other institutions on May 15, 2026.

The Vice Chancellor acknowledged the trauma experienced by the university community and expressed gratitude for the support received during the ordeal. Clerics from both Christian and Muslim faiths offered prayers for peace, security, and healing, emphasizing the importance of faith during challenging times.

The event served as a reminder of the ongoing security challenges in the region.
