Kenneth Okonkwo Accuses Peter Obi of Betrayal

Kenneth Okonkwo, a Nollywood actor turned politician, publicly accused Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate, of betrayal. Okonkwo, who is now the spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar's 2027 presidential campaign under the African Democratic Congress, stated that Atiku recognized his value despite previous criticisms.

He expressed disappointment in Obi's leadership qualities, claiming that he had not spoken to Obi since July 2024 and deemed him unfit for the presidency. Okonkwo's allegations against Obi have led to a defamation suit filed by Obi in June 2026 at the Anambra State High Court in Onitsha, demanding N5 billion in damages.

Okonkwo rejected the claims as false and unnecessary, asserting that he would provide documentary evidence to support his statements. He emphasized that Atiku Abubakar is a leader who recognizes talent and potential in young individuals.
