Kenneth Okonkwo's Past Criticism of Atiku Resurfaces

Kenneth Okonkwo, an actor-turned-politician and newly appointed spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has drawn attention after a 2023 interview resurfaced online. In this interview, Okonkwo, then a spokesperson for the Labour Party presidential campaign, made severe allegations against Atiku, claiming he used special purpose vehicles to create fake companies for consultancy payments.

Okonkwo stated, “Atiku has confessed that he used special purpose vehicles to create phoney companies for which he paid consultancy fees.” He criticized Atiku's handling of the Achimugu controversy, noting that Atiku offered no defense when questioned. The resurfacing of this interview follows Okonkwo's recent appointment by Atiku as his spokesperson for the 2027 presidential election, which he announced on his X page, expressing gratitude for the trust placed in him.

Okonkwo's appointment comes after public disagreements regarding the ADC's selection of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi as Atiku's running mate, which Okonkwo argued further marginalized the South-East.
