Hanga: Obi-Kwankwaso Ticket Unlikely for 2027 Elections

Senator Rufai Hanga, representing Kano Central in the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed skepticism regarding the viability of a presidential ticket featuring Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso for the 2027 elections. During an interview with Freedom Radio, Hanga noted that neither Obi nor Kwankwaso has sufficient national support, particularly in the northern regions, which he believes is crucial for electoral success.

He highlighted that Kwankwaso, despite his popularity in Kano, faces challenges in garnering broader support, as evidenced by the refusal of people from Katsina, Jigawa, and Kaduna to join the NDC. Hanga also mentioned that Obi's political strength is largely limited to Anambra State in southern Nigeria.

He compared the chances of the NDC with those of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Atiku Abubakar, suggesting that the ADC has a better chance of defeating the current president, Bola Tinubu. Hanga reaffirmed his loyalty to Kwankwaso amid reports of deteriorating relationships within the party.
