Tanko Calls Obi, Kwankwaso's NDC Move Courageous

Tanko, a representative of the Obidient Movement, characterized the decision of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to join the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a courageous step aimed at addressing Nigeria's toxic political environment. In an interview, he noted the legal uncertainties and tight timelines faced by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which complicated Obi and Kwankwaso's pursuit of their political ambitions.

Tanko argued that the move was necessary to protect Nigeria's democracy and strengthen the opposition ahead of the upcoming elections. He responded to claims that Obi left the ADC to avoid internal competition, asserting that Obi's political maneuvers were not inconsistent but rather a resilient response to exclusion.

Tanko emphasized that Kwankwaso's support would enhance Obi's appeal in northern Nigeria and help build a stronger opposition front, dismissing allegations that Obi's actions were driven by personal ambition.
