NDC Demands Investigation After Disruption of Obi's Visit

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) announced that it will not immediately take legal action against the Benue State Government following the disruption of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi's, visit to the state. Osa Director, the National Publicity Secretary of the NDC, stated that the party's priority is a transparent investigation into the incident.

Obi visited Benue State to express solidarity with victims of violence in the Yelwata community. The NDC clarified that the visit was not a political campaign but an act of empathy.

Director urged the police to conduct an open investigation and prosecute those responsible for the disruption, warning against allowing the matter to fade after public arrests. The controversy arose as Obi's visit reportedly faced objections from state authorities, questioning whether he was engaging in political activities.

The NDC expects security agencies to uphold the law and ensure peaceful political activities, especially with the upcoming 2027 general elections.
