NDC Chairmen Demand Obidient Movement Compliance with Party Rules

State chairmen of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have voiced their concerns regarding the Obidient Movement, emphasizing that support groups must not establish parallel campaign structures or conduct activities without the party's approval. This statement comes amid disagreements over the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement's operations as the 2027 general elections approach.

Charles Omidiji, the NDC Chairman in Osun State, asserted that no movement or group is superior to the party, and while candidates may have separate campaigns, they must involve the party to avoid crises. He stated that it is illegal for candidates to campaign independently without party involvement, as the party would be held accountable for any resulting issues.

Omidiji clarified that candidates proceeding with independent campaigns would do so at their own risk, as the party would not monitor their elections. David Chukwudifu, the NDC Chairman in Anambra State, reported that the Obidient Movement had sidelined him and the 326 ward chairmen in the state.
