Offa Polytechnic Partners with EMVC for Electric Vehicles

Electric Mobility Vehicle Company (EMVC) and Federal Polytechnic Offa have signed a groundbreaking agreement to develop made-in-Nigeria electric vehicles, marking the first collaboration of its kind between a Nigerian electric vehicle manufacturer and a polytechnic. This partnership aims to strengthen the link between industry and technical education, focusing on local capacity in the automotive value chain.

The collaboration will involve the joint development of market-ready electric vehicles suited for Nigerian and African conditions, alongside research in battery technology, including cell assembly and battery management systems. The agreement includes structured training for students in electric vehicle design, assembly, and maintenance, as well as shared access to laboratories and workshops.

Plans also include establishing a Centre of Excellence in Electric Mobility, developing specialized curricula, and providing internship opportunities. EMVC's CEO, Prince Mustapha Mona Audu, emphasized the commitment to building a sustainable electric vehicle industry, while the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin, highlighted the importance of aligning technical education with industry needs.
