Tinubu Mourns Veteran Nollywood Actor Taiwo Hassan

President Bola Tinubu expressed his condolences following the death of veteran Nollywood actor, filmmaker, and screenwriter Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who passed away at the age of 66 after a battle with stage-four cancer. In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Ogogo's death as a significant loss to the Yoruba film industry, Nollywood, and Nigeria's creative community.

He highlighted Ogogo's distinguished career, which spanned several decades, and his impactful contributions to Yoruba-language theatre and Nigerian cinema. Tinubu noted Ogogo's unique acting style and dedication to his craft, which entertained generations of Nigerians and promoted Yoruba culture.

Ogogo's remains were taken to his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, where he was buried on Monday according to Islamic rites. Before his acting career, Ogogo worked as a mechanic for about 13 years before fully committing to acting in 1994.
