Ogun Governor Orders Probe into School Gas Leak Incident

On Wednesday, a gas leak incident at Ladi Apostol Secondary School in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, resulted in the hospitalization of at least 30 students and one teacher. In response, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun ordered an immediate investigation to determine the cause of the leak and prevent future occurrences.

The governor also directed the closure of the affected school and instructed that a situation room be opened at the general hospital in Ijebu Ode to provide free treatment for the students. Ola Oresanya, the Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, confirmed that the Ogun State Environment Protection Agency has been deployed to analyze the gas and ascertain its source and nature.

Residents in the surrounding areas have been advised not to panic, as there is no confirmed security threat linked to the incident. Early reports suggest a possible connection to a nearby chemical laboratory and human activities.
