Gas Leak Hospitalizes 30 Students and Teacher in Ogun

On Wednesday, a gas leak occurred at a school in Ogun State shortly after a school assembly, resulting in 30 students and one teacher being hospitalized. The situation escalated quickly as students and staff struggled to breathe, leading to chaos and several students collapsing due to the gas exposure.

They were rushed to Ijebu Ode General Hospital for treatment and were reported to be in stable condition. The Ogun State Environmental Commission, represented by Ola Oresanya, indicated that the incident might be linked to a gas explosion or a chemical odor from the school laboratory.

Oresanya confirmed that the gas leak was not due to industrial pollution, as there were no industrial gas sources nearby, and dismissed speculation about an explosion occurring on the school premises. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the gas leak.
