Ijebu Congress Raises Alarm Over Gas Explosion Risks

Ijebu Congress has voiced serious concerns regarding a recent gas explosion in Ijebu Ode, describing the trend of recurring toxic gas emissions as unacceptable. The global chairman, Princ Bunmi Mebud, and the global secretary, Alhaji Otunba Ham Gafari, emphasized the health dangers posed to local communities, particularly students at schools such as Ladi Apostol Girl High School and Anglican Girl Grammar School.

The incident on Friday, May 15, reportedly affected several children, with one girl from Hope Immaculate High School placed in a coma for four hours, incurring medical costs of nearly N170,000. The group criticized the lack of visible action from local and state governments in response to these incidents and called for a thorough investigation into the gas emissions.

They urged the Ogun State government to take proactive measures to ensure the safety of children and prevent further occurrences of such dangerous incidents.
