Ogun State to Charge Driver in Fatal Crash Involving Joshua's Associates

The Ogun State government announced plans to prosecute Abubakar Adamu, the driver of a stationary truck involved in a fatal accident that resulted in the deaths of two associates of boxer Anthony Joshua on December 29, 2025. During a court session, D.O.

Ogunyomi, representing the state, urged the court to consolidate charges against Adamu and Adeniyi Kayod, who was driving the Lexus SUV carrying Joshua's friends at the time of the crash. The Ogun State Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) recommended that Kayod be prosecuted for reckless driving alongside Adamu.

The accident occurred along the Sagamu axis of Ogun State when the SUV collided with the parked truck, leading to the deaths of Kevin Latif and Ayodel Sina Ghami, both close associates of Joshua. Although Joshua survived with minor injuries, Kayod was arrested and charged with offenses including dangerous driving causing death and reckless negligence.

The case was adjourned to June 2, 2026, for further proceedings.
