FUTO VC Ordered to Withdraw 24 Aides' Appointments

The Federal Ministry of Education has directed Professor Ikechukwu Dozi, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), to immediately withdraw the appointments of 24 aides. This directive, communicated in a letter dated June 25, 2026, cites violations of established regulations and due process within the federal university system.

Dr. Olatunji Alausa, representing the ministry, has requested that Dozi cancel the appointments and provide documentary evidence of compliance with the ministry's directives. The review of the appointments revealed that they did not conform to the established procedures, leading to the conclusion that the appointments were irregular.

Consequently, the ministry has summoned Dozi to Abuja on June 29, 2026, for further discussions regarding the university's administration. The ministry emphasizes its commitment to transparency and adherence to best practices in managing tertiary institutions, indicating that this matter will receive significant attention from stakeholders in the education sector.
