Okin Biscuits Resumes Production in Offa After 17 Years

Okin Biscuits has successfully restarted production at its factory in Offa, Nigeria, after a 17-year hiatus. This milestone was achieved on Wednesday when a rehabilitated production line operated for the first time since the factory's closure.

The factory had been dormant due to extensive theft, which left it stripped of essential equipment, including cables and motors. The company described the initial production as a technical trial rather than a commercial run, aimed at assessing the operational capacity of the facility.

On the same day, the Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) reconnected the factory to the power grid, facilitating further rehabilitation and testing. Despite the successful trial, Okin Biscuits clarified that it is not yet prepared for a full commercial comeback.

Founded in 1980, Okin Biscuits aims to revive one of Nigeria's oldest biscuit brands and contribute to local manufacturing in the fast-moving consumer goods sector.
