Olam Agri Launches $50M Soybean Crushing Plant in Nigeria

Olam Agri has officially launched a $50 million soybean crushing plant and feed mill complex in Ilorin, Nigeria. The facility introduces "Mama's Pride" soya oil, designed to meet the nutritional needs of Nigerian households.

Saurabh Kumar, the company's Africa head of edible oil processing, highlighted the product's development as tailored for Nigerian kitchens. The oil is marketed as a high-quality, health-conscious option, boasting features such as fortified vitamins, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, zero cholesterol content, and long-lasting frying performance.

Bola Adeniji, the head of the market, emphasized the importance of promoting authentic, healthy edible oil options in Nigeria and encouraged consumers to choose non-adulterated products. The launch reflects Olam Agri's commitment to enhancing the nutritional value of its offerings and its ongoing investment in Nigeria's agricultural potential, with a focus on sourcing local soybeans and processing high-quality oil.
