Olu Jacobs, Iconic Nigerian Actor, Passes Away at 84

Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, has died at the age of 84, as confirmed by his family, including his son Olusoji Jacobs and wife Joke Silva. This announcement follows years of false death reports circulated online.

Born on July 11, 1942, Jacobs grew up in an Egba Alake family and developed an interest in acting during his childhood in Kano. He studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and had a successful career in British theater and television, appearing in productions such as A Taste of Honey and series like The Goodies and Till Death Us Do Part.

After returning to Nigeria in 1990, he became a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry, known for his roles as fathers, elders, and authority figures. Jacobs appeared in over 100 Nigerian films, including Oloibiri and The Royal Hibiscus Hotel, and co-founded the Lufodo Group, contributing significantly to the performing arts.
