Olympique Marseille Appoints Habib Bey as New Head Coach

Olympique Marseille has confirmed the appointment of former club captain Habib Bey as their new head coach, ending speculation surrounding Eric Chelle's potential role with the Nigeria national team. Bey has signed an 18-month contract to lead the team at Stade Vélodrome.

He previously captained Marseille and began his career at RC Strasbourg before moving to Marseille in 2003, where he quickly became a key player and later team captain. After a stint in England with Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Doncaster Rovers, Bey retired from professional play in 2021.

He has built his coaching credentials by guiding Red Star FC to promotion in the Championnat National and spending the last 18 months at Stade Rennais. His leadership, tactical acumen, and disciplined approach have earned him recognition, setting the stage for his return to Marseille in a managerial role.
