Gunmen Abduct Two Farmers in Ondo, Demand N10m Ransom

Two farmers were kidnapped in Ondo State on Saturday, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of N10 million for their release. A relative of the victims disclosed the incident during a phone conversation with Daily Trust on Tuesday.

The family has reported the abduction to the Ondo State Police Command and the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun. DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed that the police received a report regarding the missing farmers but had not verified any ransom demand.

A joint security team, including personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, Amotekun Corps, local hunters, Agbekoya operatives, and community volunteers, has been deployed to the forest to enhance search and rescue operations. Jimoh emphasized that the police command was unaware of any ransom demand related to the incident and urged residents to report any credible information to assist in the rescue efforts.
