Ondo Varsity Students Demand Action on ASUU Strike

The Students’ Union of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), led by President Folagbade Greatness, announced plans to protest due to the prolonged ASUU strike affecting their academic calendar. During a press briefing on Sunday, the union expressed that the indefinite strike has left thousands of students frustrated and facing emotional, psychological, and financial hardships.

Many students have been forced to leave campus, while those remaining endure difficult conditions. The union described the situation as unacceptable, highlighting delays in graduations and additional financial burdens on families.

They urged the Ondo State Government, under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and relevant stakeholders to engage with ASUU-AAUA leadership to resolve the issues through dialogue. The Students’ Union issued a 72-hour ultimatum for a satisfactory response from the government, warning that failure to act would lead to lawful, peaceful protests to protect their educational rights.

They emphasized that the ultimatum is a sincere appeal driven by the hardships students are experiencing.
