AAUA ASUU Declares Indefinite Strike Over 2025 Agreement

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, has declared a total and indefinite strike over the non-implementation of the 2025 Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN)-ASUU agreement. Prof. Boluwaji Oshodi, the Chairman of ASUU at the institution, announced this decision during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Akure.

This strike follows the suspension of a previous strike related to unpaid salary backlogs after outstanding payments were received. Oshodi stated that the union had engaged with the state government through letters and meetings but faced inaction regarding the main agreement.

He emphasized that members would not return to work based on mere promises and demanded concrete actions from the state government. The FGN-ASUU 2025 agreement includes upgraded salary structures and a 40 percent salary review for academic staff, along with the payment of accumulated salary arrears.

Oshodi expressed concern over the Ondo State government's reluctance to implement the agreement, noting that other states had already begun implementation.
