One Dead, Two Rescued in Lagos Building Collapse

A tragic incident occurred in the Aboru area of Lagos State when a two-storey building undergoing manual demolition collapsed at approximately 12:56 am on Thursday, resulting in one fatality and two rescues. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), reported that the agency's Alpha Eagle Response Team was dispatched immediately after receiving a distress call.

Upon arrival, first responders confirmed that workers were trapped under the debris. The coordinated rescue operation involved LASEMA, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS).

Two adult males were rescued alive and received first aid before being transported to a nearby health facility, while one adult male was recovered deceased from the rubble. Oke-Osanyintolu urged compliance with building regulations and the engagement of certified professionals for demolition work, emphasizing the importance of reporting unsafe building activities to the agency.
