Adam Zango's Divorce Sparks Genotype Controversy

Kannywood actor Adam Zango confirmed the end of his marriage to Maimuna Musa, known as Maimuna Pretty, citing their shared AS genotype as the reason for their split. Zango stated that they chose to part ways to prevent the risk of having children with sickle cell anaemia, a condition that can arise when both parents have the AS genotype.

He shared a video to reassure fans that the separation was amicable and urged against spreading false narratives about their divorce. However, his explanation was met with skepticism, particularly from Kano-based TikTok personality G-Fresh Al-Amin, who criticized Zango for making the reason public.

Al-Amin emphasized that genotype testing is a fundamental medical check before marriage, suggesting that Zango's public disclosure exposed him to ridicule rather than educating others. In Nigeria, many religious institutions advocate for genotype screening to mitigate the risks associated with sickle cell disease.
