Nigeria Automates Academic Certificate Evaluation Process

On September 9, the Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria announced the full automation of the academic certificate evaluation and authentication process, enabling applicants to complete the procedure online. This development eliminates the need for physical visits to government offices, significantly benefiting students and graduates facing admission or job application deadlines.

The new system is expected to reduce logistical costs and administrative burdens, particularly for Nigerians living abroad who previously had to return to Nigeria for credential authentication. The Ministry stated that this digital approach aims to minimize bureaucratic bottlenecks and accelerate processing times, providing a more structured channel for schools, employers, and other institutions to verify academic qualifications.

The centralization of the verification process is designed to enhance the reliability and efficiency of credential checks, thereby strengthening the government's role in authenticating Nigerian academic qualifications.
