Defence Minister Critiques Media Coverage of Military

During a visit to the operational command in Maiduguri, Defence Minister Christoph Musa expressed concern over media coverage of military operations, stating that only military failures tend to make headlines. He noted that successful operations, such as the recent coordinated offensive that eliminated 80 terrorists in the Malum Fatori, Damasak, and Magumeri areas, often go unreported.

Musa acknowledged the challenging conditions faced by soldiers in the North East but commended the resilience and commitment of the troops. He lamented that the media amplifies negative incidents, creating an imbalanced public perception of military efforts.

Musa urged Nigerians to support the armed forces and emphasized the importance of balanced and accurate reporting from journalists, particularly in conflict zones, to better reflect the realities on the ground.
