Onuesoke Advocates for CBN Independence in Nigeria

Chief Sunni Onuesoke, the chairman of Energi Services, called for the full independence of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) during an interactive session with journalists in Warri, Delta State. He stated that the independence of the CBN is essential for achieving economic stability and restoring investor confidence.

Onuesoke argued that the apex bank should operate without political interference, which he believes is critical for safeguarding the value of the naira and controlling inflation. He emphasized that a truly independent CBN would allow for professional financial decisions based on economic realities rather than political pressures.

Onuesoke further urged policymakers and stakeholders to strengthen laws that protect the autonomy of the CBN and called for fiscal discipline and sound monetary policies to attract local and foreign investment. He encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful that the right economic policies and leadership could help the country overcome its current financial challenges and achieve long-term prosperity.
