Tinubu Appoints Kayode Opeifa as NRC Managing Director

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Kayode Opeifa, PhD, as the substantive Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) on January 22, 2025. Opeifa, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and advanced degrees, has a robust background in transportation management, public administration, and institutional reform.

His career includes significant roles such as Special Adviser on Transportation during former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola's administration, where he contributed to traffic management and the reform of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA). In July 2011, he was appointed Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos State, overseeing policies to enhance public transportation and urban mobility.

Opeifa's approach emphasizes the need for strong institutions and effective regulation in solving transportation challenges, aligning with Nigeria's goal of developing an integrated railway network that complements other transportation modes.
