Oyo State Kidnappers Trapped in National Park

The Oyo State Commissioner, Dotun Oyelad, reported that kidnappers involved in the abduction at the Grammar School in Ahoru Esinl, Orir Local Government Area, are trapped within the Old Oyo National Park. Security operations have intensified to rescue the abducted victims and prevent the suspects from fleeing to neighboring Kwara State.

The attack occurred on Friday, resulting in the death of a teacher and the abduction of several pupils and staff members, including the school principal. Security forces, including the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Civil Defence, and Amotekun Corps, have been deployed to the area to restrict the suspects' movement.

Efforts to establish direct contact with the abductors are ongoing, and the exact number of victims remains difficult to confirm due to slow verification processes. The state government is committed to enhancing security infrastructure, with Amotekun Corps currently operating 181 vehicles, 450 motorcycles, and 2,500 personnel across Oyo State.
