Orumba South Mayor Affirms Commitment to Market Project

Hon. Shedrack Azubuik, the Mayor of Orumba South Local Government Area in Anambra State, dismissed reports circulating on social media that the Eke Owerre-Ezukala modern market project had been abandoned. In a statement issued from the mayor's office on Sunday, Azubuik assured residents that the project will be completed and remains a priority for the administration.

The claims of abandonment arose following the death of the late Rt. Hon. Arch.

Franci Ibeh, a former leader of the Orumba South Legislative Council, who was murdered on November 8, 2025. The council temporarily suspended construction as a mark of respect for Ibeh, but this should not be interpreted as the project being abandoned.

Azubuik reaffirmed the administration's commitment to completing the market project, which serves as a tribute to Ibeh's contributions to the development of Orumba South. He urged residents to disregard the unfounded rumors and to support security agencies in the ongoing campaign for justice regarding Ibeh's murder.
