Osun APC and Accord Party Clash Over Election Violence

Four days after the Osun State governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Accord Party have exchanged allegations regarding post-election violence. The APC, represented by spokesperson Chief Kola Olabisi, accused Accord Party members of attacking its supporters following the declaration of Governor Ademola Adeleke as the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The APC reported multiple incidents of violence, including attacks in Osogbo and Modakeke, and claimed that Accord members used weapons to assault APC supporters. In contrast, Accord Party Chairman Pastor Victor Akande dismissed the APC's claims as false, asserting that his party had been victims of violence from the APC prior to the election, with 20 of their members reportedly killed.

The APC further alleged that illegal local government council chairmen and NURTW executives were involved in violent activities. The APC condemned the violence and urged Governor Adeleke to control his supporters to prevent further unrest.
