APC Chieftain Okechukwu Calls for Action Against Election Violence

Osita Okechukwu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), condemned the violence surrounding the Osun state gubernatorial election in a statement made on Sunday in Enugu. He expressed concern that the ongoing political violence, characterized by hate speech and breaches of the rule of law, could jeopardize democracy in Nigeria.

Okechukwu highlighted the tragic loss of innocent lives during the election period and emphasized the need for Nigerians to address the "banditry in all of us" as the country approaches the 2027 general elections. He urged citizens and political actors to respect human life and the sanctity of the ballot for democracy to thrive.

Okechukwu also congratulated Ademola Adeleke on his victory and encouraged him to foster unity in Osun State through an inclusive administration.
