Osun Election Signals 10 Million Votes for Tinubu in 2027

In a statement on Monday, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, representing Ekiti Central and serving as Senate Leader, projected that the recent Osun gubernatorial election, which saw a voter turnout of 51.57%, could enable President Bola Tinubu to garner 10 million votes in the South-West during the 2027 presidential election. Bamidele congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, who won with 511,067 votes, while Mr. Bola Oyebamiji of the APC received 444,815 votes.

He emphasized the importance of the election's turnout and the people's role in democracy, suggesting that with strategic collaboration, the APC could achieve at least a 60% voter turnout in future elections. Bamidele urged both Adeleke and Oyebamiji to work together for the benefit of Osun and to foster inclusive governance.

He called for acceptance of electoral outcomes by all political actors to strengthen democracy.
