Tinubu Urges Free and Fair Elections in Osun State

President Bola Tinubu has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to guarantee a peaceful, transparent, and credible governorship election in Osun State, set for August 15, 2026. In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the electoral process, urging INEC to ensure that the election is free and fair.

He highlighted that this election serves as a crucial opportunity for INEC to demonstrate its preparedness for the upcoming 2027 general elections. Tinubu instructed the Inspector-General of Police and other security heads to provide maximum security at polling units, ensuring that voters and electoral officials are protected from intimidation.

He encouraged voters to participate confidently in the election, asserting that all necessary measures for a peaceful electoral process are in place. The President reiterated that the credibility of the election hinges on its ability to reflect the true will of the Osun voters.
