IBEDC Suspends Staff Over Electricity Vandalism Allegations

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC Plc) has suspended several staff members due to allegations of their involvement in the vandalism of electricity infrastructure in Ikirun, Osun State. Angela Olanrewaju, the company’s Coordinating Head of Corporate Services, confirmed the suspensions in a statement released to journalists in Ibadan on Wednesday.

This disciplinary action aligns with IBEDC's zero-tolerance policy towards vandalism and unethical conduct. The suspended employees will remain so pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.

IBEDC has pledged to take appropriate internal disciplinary measures against any staff member found guilty of the allegations. The company also commended the Osun State Police Command for arresting a suspect related to the vandalism and expressed its commitment to cooperating fully with the Nigeria Police Force during the investigation.

IBEDC urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities regarding electricity infrastructure, emphasizing the need for community cooperation in protecting these critical assets.
