Osun Governor Adeleke Takes EFCC to Court Over Accounts

Ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, Commissioner of Police Samuel Erale Etaifo disclosed on Wednesday that 15,000 police personnel have been deployed to the state. This deployment includes conventional police officers, specialists, and units such as the dog section and medical personnel.

Etaifo stated that the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Assistant Inspector General (AIG) overseeing the operations will also be involved. He noted that the redeployment was necessary due to prior tensions and violence in the state, which had resulted in attacks and killings.

During a session with the deployed officers at the Police Officers Mess in Osogbo, Etaifo warned against any conduct that could compromise the election's integrity. He stated that anyone caught undermining a free and fair election, including police officers and political actors, would face legal consequences.

Violators of electoral laws would be taken directly to Abuja, as the election is treated as a federal government election.
