Osun Government Calls for Peace After Governorship Election

The Osun State Government issued a warning to political actors and stakeholders against disrupting public peace following the recent governorship election. In a statement released on Sunday by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the government expressed concern over potential plans by some stakeholders to instigate fresh violence in local government areas and motor parks.

The government emphasized the importance of reconciliation and peaceful coexistence, stating that the state could not afford a return to the pre-election atmosphere of conflict. It noted that the election results had concluded, with one candidate victorious and others defeated, urging the state to focus on rebuilding trust among citizens.

The government also mentioned ongoing discussions between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ademola Adeleke aimed at fostering peace. It called on security agencies to uphold the rule of law and urged political leaders to moderate their conduct, emphasizing the need for a period of healing and development in Osun.
