Oyetola Condemns Violence in Osun State Elections

Gboyega Oyetola, the former Governor of Osun State and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, condemned the violence that occurred before, during, and after the recent Governorship Election in Osun State. In a statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo by his Special Adviser, Dr Bolaji Akinola, Oyetola expressed that the loss of lives was unacceptable and called for an immediate cessation of violence.

He urged that politics should serve as a vehicle for development rather than a catalyst for bloodshed. Oyetola extended condolences to the families of the deceased and called on security agencies to enhance their presence in volatile areas and ensure the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the violence.

The Osun State Police Command confirmed that two civilians were killed during an attack on police personnel in Ikire, where two officers were also injured. The attack occurred on Monday along the Ife-Ibadan Expressway when officers responded to a distress call regarding an alleged abduction.
