Oyebamiji Urges UK Support for Peaceful Osun Elections

On July 14, 2026, Oyebamiji, the governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, urged the United Kingdom and Nigerian security agencies to facilitate peaceful elections ahead of the gubernatorial poll scheduled for August 15. During a meeting with a delegation from the British High Commission in Osogbo, Oyebamiji reassured citizens of Osun State about the APC's commitment to democracy and called for continued support from the UK.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining a neutral stance by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow citizens to elect their leaders without interference. Oyebamiji dismissed media reports alleging that the British High Commission had denied visa requests for APC members, labeling these claims as false.

He also condemned political violence, referencing the murder of APC member Remi Abba, and pledged cooperation with security agencies to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
