BON Commends INEC for Transparent Osun Gubernatorial Election

The Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) congratulated Prof. Joash Akin Amupitan and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the transparent conduct of the governorship election in Osun State. The election, held last Saturday, resulted in the re-election of incumbent governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term.

In a statement signed by Executive Secretary Yemisi Bamgbose, BON praised INEC for the timely delivery of election results and the overall transparency of the electoral process. BON described the Osun State Governorship election as a litmus test for INEC, suggesting that improvements could serve as a model for future elections in Nigeria.

They also commended security agencies for maintaining order during the election and urged INEC to prosecute individuals arrested for compromising the electoral process to deter future offenses. BON called for strict enforcement of electoral laws and the prosecution of all offenders.
