Yiaga Africa Urges Voter Education for Osun Election

Yiaga Africa, a civil society organization and election observer, has called on journalists to educate voters in Osun State regarding new electoral innovations to be implemented by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the governorship election on Saturday. Samson Itodo, the Executive Director of Yiaga Africa, made this statement during a workshop in Osogbo focused on Election Results Management.

He highlighted the introduction of electronic uploading of election results through the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) under the 2026 Electoral Act, specifically the e-EC8A process. This allows Presiding Officers at polling units to upload results electronically, a method not previously used in Osun State.

Itodo emphasized the need for voters to understand this new process, including their rights to inspect BVAS machines and ensure results are publicly displayed. He also reminded voters to be accredited with their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and to monitor the results uploading process to ensure accuracy.
