No Petitions Filed in Osun Governorship Election Outcome

The Osun governorship election petition tribunal reported that no petitions were filed challenging the results of the August 15 governorship election by the end of the 21-day window on Saturday. Incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, representing the Accord party, was declared the winner by the State Returning Officer, Prof Joshua Ogunwole, with a total of 511,067 votes, defeating Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 444,815 votes.

Despite the potential grounds for a challenge, a member of the APC legal team stated that the party chose not to file a petition in the interest of peace. Victor Akande, chairman of Osun Accord, commended the opposition's decision not to contest the election results, viewing it as a sign of political maturity.

Olugbenga Ajala, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, also commented on the election process, indicating a positive outlook on the election's integrity.
