Oyebamiji Accepts Defeat in Osun Governorship Election

Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, publicly accepted his defeat in the August 15 election, which saw Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party declared the winner with 511,067 votes against Oyebamiji's 444,815 votes. In a message posted on X, Oyebamiji expressed respect for the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) decision and commended APC supporters for their commitment.

He emphasized that while the campaign ended, the values it represented would continue to be championed. Oyebamiji raised concerns about increasing hostility and violence against APC members following the election, calling for intervention from the Nigeria Police Force and urging his supporters to remain calm.

In contrast, Wole Oke, the Director-General of the APC campaign, stated that the party disagreed with INEC's results and was reviewing the situation, indicating a divergence from President Bola Tinubu's earlier congratulations to Adeleke.
