Imumolen Defends Tinubu's Neutrality in Osun Elections

Chris Imumolen, a former presidential candidate, criticized Pelumi Olajengbesi, the campaign spokesperson for Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke, for asserting that President Bola Tinubu did not support Adeleke's victory in the recent Osun elections. Imumolen stated that Tinubu's choice to remain neutral, despite the All Progressives Congress (APC) having its own candidate, exemplified his support.

He emphasized that political support transcends financial backing or overt campaigning, highlighting that Tinubu's restraint prevented the election from becoming a personal conflict. Imumolen noted Tinubu's actions, such as his intervention regarding the Osun State Government’s account and communication with Adeleke before the election results, as signs of statesmanship.

He clarified that while Tinubu did not campaign for Adeleke, his conduct fostered a democratic environment for the election. Imumolen urged Adeleke and his supporters to recognize Tinubu's respect for the democratic process, countering Olajengbesi's claim that Tinubu offered "no support.".
