Atiku Abubakar Condemns EFCC's Freeze on Osun Funds

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar expressed serious concerns regarding the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's (EFCC) decision to freeze the Osun State Government’s statutory allocation account just days before the governorship election. In a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku described the action as a reckless assault on democracy, questioning the neutrality of institutions meant to uphold the rule of law.

He highlighted the potential negative implications of such a freeze, including disruption of governance, delayed salary payments, and an atmosphere of intimidation. Atiku asserted that the EFCC's actions could undermine public confidence in the electoral process and called for the immediate reversal of the freeze, stating it was an attack on the people of Osun State.

He urged all institutions involved in the election to act with restraint and impartiality, emphasizing that anti-corruption efforts should not be politicized.
