PDP Backs Adeleke Despite Court Ruling on Candidate

The Interim National Working Committee (INWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially endorsed Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party for the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, despite a Court of Appeal ruling that recognized Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola as the PDP candidate. This decision was announced in a statement from the INWC's National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, in Abuja.

The Court of Appeal upheld Adedamola's nomination and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to include the PDP's logo on the ballot for the August 15 election. The INWC criticized INEC for alleged bias and for hindering its candidate's participation, stating that the judgment arrived too late for effective campaigning.

The INWC accused INEC of acting in a partisan manner favoring the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and decided to support Adeleke to defend multi-party democracy after consultations.
