PDP Faction Endorses Adeleke, Abandons Own Candidate

The Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has decided to endorse Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for the upcoming governorship election, abandoning its own candidate, Adebayo Adedamola. This decision was announced on Thursday following a recent legal victory that allowed Adedamola to participate in the election.

Despite the Court of Appeal recognizing Adedamola as the candidate, the faction cited insufficient time for effective campaigning as the reason for their endorsement of Adeleke, who is running under the Accord Party. Ini Ememobong, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP Interim National Working Committee, confirmed this shift in support.

The Court of Appeal had upheld the validity of the primary conducted by the Turaki-led faction and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to include the PDP logo on the ballot. Ememobong criticized INEC for not recognizing Adedamola as the candidate and for withholding necessary access codes for candidate submission.
