Large Voter Turnout in Ikire for Osun Gubernatorial Election

On Saturday, a large turnout of voters was reported in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area, Osun, as residents gathered to elect the next governor of the state. Voters began arriving at polling units as early as 7 a.m., checking the registers for their names ahead of the accreditation process.

Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission were already present at the polling units before 7 a.m. to facilitate the accreditation and voting process. The security presence included unarmed police officers at the polling centres, while armed personnel, soldiers, and patrol vehicles were strategically deployed around the town.

By 8:20 a.m., vehicular movement was noted along the Ife-Ibadan Road, which runs through Ikire, with motorcycles and cars navigating the area. The atmosphere remained peaceful, with some shops open for business as residents engaged in their daily activities during the ongoing election.

Ikire is notably the hometown of the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Osun governorship election, who is expected to vote at Ward 9, Unit 3, AUD School Atile, Ikire.
