Makinde Congratulates Adeleke on Osun Re-election Victory

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde congratulated Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as Governor of Osun State, stating that the election result demonstrated the will of the people. Makinde described Adeleke as his brother and acknowledged the long political journey leading to this victory.

The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke the winner of the governorship election held on Saturday, where he, representing the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes, defeating Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 444,815 votes. Adeleke won in 19 out of 30 local government areas.

This victory marks the first time the Accord Party has won a governorship election in Osun State. Adeleke's departure from the Peoples Democratic Party was influenced by internal crises, prompting his switch to the Accord Party, which subsequently rallied political support for his re-election.

Makinde's congratulatory message is significant as political actors analyze the implications of Adeleke's victory for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
