Tinubu Congratulates Adeleke After Osun Election Victory

Pelumi Olajengbesi, spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council, commended President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to a free and fair governorship election in Osun State, following the Independent National Electoral Commission's declaration of Governor Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the August 15 election. Olajengbesi stated that Tinubu congratulated Adeleke before the official announcement.

The election was marked by a tense campaign with accusations of political violence between the ruling Accord Party and the APC. Adeleke had previously appealed to Tinubu regarding alleged political repression in the state.

The Imole Campaign Council had petitioned the British High Commission and the Inspector-General of Police over security concerns and supported Tinubu's directive for police neutrality during the election. Olajengbesi expressed appreciation for Tinubu's efforts, stating the election was credible and highlighted Adeleke's performance and the people's support, as he secured 511,067 votes.
